Second, I'm looking for recommendations on brand/pricing. Unfortunately, I missed out on black Friday SSD's as I was not yet considering the upgrade options.įirst, is there complications with using an SSD in a mac, or will it be a relatively seamless upgrade like my other HD installs? I would very much like to give my laptop a shot of adrenaline, and based on my review of SSD drives, it may be just what I need, and finally in a price range I would consider. I have been considering a new computer, but these days it is very hard to justify the price of a MacBook pro, and the specs on the new models are underwhelming. My iPhoto library is in the ballpark of 400 gigs at this point, and contains somewhere around 100k pictures/videos. I think I may need to archive some old pictures. When iPhoto is open, the machine is all but unusable. I have upgraded the hard drive to a larger version twice since purchase, and I currently have a 750 GB WD Caviar that is getting pretty full, largely with a massive iPhoto library. Cosmetically it is fine, but it has been running pretty slow of late.
